Sviatoslav Silenko is a Ukrainian musician, bandurist, and founder of the project “SVIATOSLAV.” He was born on March 3, 1994, in Kyiv into a family of renowned bandurists, Taras and Neli Silenko. Since childhood, Sviatoslav has been fascinated by history and the Native American cultures of North America, which greatly influenced his worldview. At the age of five, he began playing the bandura and performed with his father across Ukraine and abroad.

Biography

Silenko received his education at Kyiv Gymnasium No. 287 while actively participating in arts events and simultaneously studying piano and guitar at music schools. After ninth grade, he joined the National Bandura Capella Studio, studying under leading educators such as Yosyp Yanytskyi and Volodymyr Openko.

In 2013, Silenko won the “Chervona Ruta” competition in the “kobzar-lirnyk performance” category. He continued his education at the Department of Musical Arts at Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts, while also learning the craft of making musical instruments under the mentorship of Yurii Fedynskyi.

Since 2014, Silenko has participated in various music groups, including “Chur” and “Folkneri,” playing multiple instruments. He developed a passion for hitchhiking and toured Europe annually, performing on streets and at festivals.
In 2020, he founded his solo project “SVIATOSLAV,” which blends folk and gothic metal. His first song, “Holy Evening,” gained attention through a video made with friends, and he also directed the music video for his song “I Remember.”

Silenko actively tours throughout Ukraine and has performed in prestigious venues such as the “Ukraine” Palace and Lviv Opera, as well as abroad. He regularly participates in festivals and television programs, and hosts his own radio shows. His musical career combines traditional Ukrainian culture with modern genres.
