He was born in 1984 in Kharkiv. His parents hail from the Novi Sanzhary region of Poltava Oblast, the source of much of Nazar’s family heritage and song tradition.
Nazar’s mentor is the *lira* player Oles Sanin. He performs his repertoire on the *kobza*, the hurdy-gurdy (*kolisna lira*), and the *starosvitska bandura* (traditional-style bandura). Nazar is also a maker of traditional folk musical instruments and passes on his knowledge and performance expertise to his students and successors.
