He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Kharkiv National University in 1994. Cheremskyi began studying kobzar traditions in 1989 under Anatoliy Parfinenko, Heorhiy Tkachenko, Mykola Budnyk, and Mykola Sarma-Sokolovskyi. His work includes archival research on the history of kobzarism and folk culture traditions, as well as leading efforts to reconstruct the kobzar tradition. He is the author of numerous scholarly works on the authentic kobzar tradition of Slobozhanshchyna and a master of the old-style bandura.
Cheremskyi holds a PhD in Art Studies and leads the Union of Ukrainian Youth in Kharkiv. He is a member of the Kyiv Kobzar Guild and the guildmaster of the Kharkiv Kobzar Guild. Cheremskyi is a laureate of the Hnat Khotkevych International Folk Instrument Performers Competition and has been honored as a Merited Worker of Culture of Ukraine.
